So, here’s something you might not know about me: I live with fibromyalgia and I’m AuDHD (that’s autism and ADHD combined). These are part of my everyday life, and they shape the way I work, not as something to overcome, but as part of who I am.

Because of this, I get it. I understand that weddings can feel overwhelming, loud, overstimulating, or even painful! Physically or mentally. That’s why I work hard to make my photography experience as inclusive and accessible as possible.

What Is People First Photography?

People first photography is all about putting your comfort, access needs, and energy at the heart of the experience, not just the final images. It means I adapt my approach to you, not the other way around. There’s no pressure to perform or power through.

It’s calm, consent led and shaped around your needs, whether that’s fewer people in the room, shorter sessions, extra breaks or simply someone who just gets it.

What I mean by people first photography goes beyond this though. It’s about deliberately choosing you over process, care over a checklist and at the core of it all, it's real human experience over expectations. Photography shapes how we remember moments, and more importantly, how we feel when we revisit those memories.

Here’s how I approach things:

I listen. If you’ve got specific needs or preferences, whether it’s sensory considerations, mobility, communication style, or anything else, tell me. I’ll make adjustments without fuss.

I communicate clearly. I know that sometimes, too many words or not enough structure can be difficult to process. I keep my communication simple and direct, and I’m always happy to use email or messages instead of calls if that works better for you.

I keep things flexible. I’m not going to push you into a plan that doesn’t work. Need more breaks? Fewer people around? I’m here to work with you, not against you.

I think ahead. As someone who has chronic pain, I know that standing for long periods or being in uncomfortable environments isn’t always possible. I’ll work with you to plan for these moments so you’re not left struggling, and I'm always packed to prepare for the worse too!

A Final Thought

People first photography isn’t a trend or a tickbox, for me, it’s the very foundation of how I work, shaped by lived experiences and the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe and seen in front of the camera.

If you’ve ever felt like traditional photography spaces weren’t made with you in mind, you should know that it can be different. It should be different! And I want it to be different for you.  I’ll meet you where you are, with patience, flexibility, and a deep respect for your energy and story.

If that sounds like what you’ve been looking for, I’d love to chat.
